One hour from Halifax is Lunenburg founded in 1752, and it is the oldest German settlement in Canada. Picturesque Lunenburg offers a variety of galleries, natural beauty and warm hospitality No wonder the Old Town of Lunenburg is a U.N.E.S.C.O. World Heritage Site. With its stately buildings and the world renown Lunenburg Academy, There are great restaurants that can cater to all the seafood enthusiasts. You can walk along the waterfront and visit the Fisherman’s Memorial Museum (Small Fee), as well and get some very colourful pictures.
Next stop on Tour is Mahone Bay founded in 1754 by Germans, Swiss and French Protestants. Mahone Bay is like stepping back in time, to a gentler era of the 1800s, the town grew and became a shipbuilding center and has now become known for its relaxing parks, great waterfront views and wooded areas laced with walking trails all within the town itself. No wonder the towns people pride themselves as the most welcoming people on the magnificent shores of Atlantic Canada. Settlers still come from all over the world to live there.
Next is Chester, Wealthiest Community in Nova Scotia with some of the prettiest summer vacation homes in Nova Scotia, are found in Chester including the Captain's House with a fantastic view of the Atlantic Ocean. Chester is considered the sailing capital of Canada.
Then onto Peggy's Cove. You will travel the Lighthouse Route 333 along Beautiful Nova Scotia shoreline with lots of Photo opportunities on the way to the fishing village of Peggy's Cove. Peggy's Cove has long been a backdrop for tales of pirates and shipwrecks, and when you take this tour, you'll have free time to explore the rocks, walking trails, village and many boutiques and gift shops of Peggy's Cove. Known as an artist and explorers paradise, this picture postcard village on the rugged Atlantic shoreline stands on a solid rock above the crashing surf.
